The VAO WASH program is committed to improving access to safe drinking water, promoting proper sanitation practices, and raising awareness about hygiene in the most marginalized communities. We focus on empowering individuals and communities, especially those living in poverty, to ensure they have the tools and education to overcome WASH-related challenges. Our goal is to reduce waterborne diseases, improve public health, and create long-lasting, positive changes in the communities we serve.

What We Do?

1. Access to Safe Water

Water Supply Projects: We work to provide clean, potable water through the construction of wells, boreholes, and rainwater harvesting systems in rural areas. By partnering with local communities, we ensure sustainable water sources are established and properly maintained.

Water Treatment Education: We offer training on water purification methods, including safe storage and household-level water treatment, to ensure that communities can prevent water contamination.

2. Sanitation Solutions

Improving Sanitation Facilities: We focus on the construction of hygienic and accessible latrines, particularly in rural communities where open defecation is prevalent. Our approach includes promoting the importance of proper waste management and sanitation to reduce the spread of diseases.

Promotion of Safe Sanitation Practices: Through community outreach, we educate on the significance of regular handwashing, menstrual hygiene management, and proper disposal of waste to create a clean and safe living environment.

3. Hygiene Awareness and Education

Hygiene Promotion Campaigns: We organize awareness campaigns to educate communities about the importance of personal hygiene, including handwashing with soap, the safe handling of food, and maintaining clean living spaces. These campaigns involve interactive sessions, training workshops, and distribution of hygiene kits to enhance understanding and participation.

School WASH Programs: Our program extends to schools, where we educate children about hygiene and the benefits of safe water and sanitation, aiming to build lifelong habits and pass this knowledge to future generations.

Our programs aim to address housing instability by offering emergency, transitional, and permanent housing options, coupled with essential resources like financial counseling, job training, and community engagement. By empowering people with the stability of a safe home, we foster a foundation for improved well-being, personal growth, and hope for a brighter future.
